I never realised Aberdeen had so many beautiful historic buildings certainly rivaling Edinburgh but in different ways . This is a museum now. Dating from 1545, it is the oldest surviving townhouse in Aberdeen . The City Provost bought the house in 1669 and was responsible for many renovations including the remarkable plaster ceilings. Point of interest, The house was used to billet Hanoverian troops in 1746 and Cumberland himself had a short stay on his way to the Battle of Culloden. The small gardens are very picturesque.
