It's a fairly busy place, with a varied menu, including battered Halloumi. Well of course I had to try that, skiing with some fish goujons and chips. The staff were friendly with a warm greeting upon entering the premises. I believe it is a family run business, that's what it looked like to me. After deciding my choice of meal, which came with a choice of either curry or tomato sauces, gravy or mushy peas (I picked curry) I left and sat in my car to eat. The chips were good, the fish seemed to have been sat in the cabinet a little while, as it was soggy on the bottom and a bit dry at the top, there wasn't any crunch to the batter. The battered Halloumi was a bit too greasy for my tastes, with very little flavour to the actual halloumi inside the batter. Perhaps they should have made it 60% narrower and 70% thicker. It fell a bit flat, both literally and figuratively. I imagine the food to be very good when it is a bit fresher, as you would with most fish and chip shops. But I went there before their obvious busy period. Because as I was eating, they had a bit of an influx in customers, so I presume they had items ready for this reason. Sadly I drive away thinking I should have opted for the quarter pounder meal option. Nice place, cleanliness and hygiene at an outstanding level, great service and friendly staff. Food was ok.
