A wonderful museum highly supportive of hosting different events. Photos attached show the “WINdow on the Brain” event!

Great value museum, pay once for access all year, and the shop noticeably cheaper than equivalents in other museums. Always engaging and thought out The 'Mechanics alive' was a perfect exhibition for my young kids, very interactive, and covered space outside with games as a great little picnic spot. And we didn't even do Roald Dahl this time!

What a little gem of a museum, lots of little treasures and thoughtful and interesting displays. We particularly loved the Tudor house and the way they had shown the way the home had changed over the centuries. Fascinating details. Lovely staff as well and beautiful garden in the cafe, lovely if you have small children. The Roald Dahl centre ideal for under 12s and good value, and the Mechanics Live upstairs, lovely helpful staff (Gay, legend!) who really engaged well with my tween. Beautiful museum, very interesting displays. Very small cafe, gift shop and toilets, with outside seating available for taking your own picnic. Staff very friendly and helpful. No longer free entrance, unfortunately, but a Discovery Pass gets you a year's entry for £5.50 per adult. (This does not include the Ronald Dahl Gallery, which attracts an extra cost.)

I have been twice to the museum this year. Once in summer ( great air con ) and recently for mini elves Christmas event. Both times it was brilliant. My daughter is 4 next month and although she doesn’t quite understand most of the experiments and things on show she still really enjoys herself. The feel the force during summer was particularly fun for her. During summer the enclosed garden with games is also a big hit. The Christmas event is a hidden gem too. For £5 you got so much included compared to other things and I would much prefer this to a grotto visit. We received snack for both of us and drinks too. The staff were also really engaging with the children especially during story time and crafts. It is a perfect place to come to in town to escape the heat 🥵or cold 🥶 and peace and quiet!
