Visited the bbowt nature reserve on 22nd april and the bluebells were just amazing. parking is on the lane running past it. the only down about this place (and for the foreseeable future) is the hs2 works between the lane and the woods. but once you get under the trees they are quickly forgotten.
A really outstanding local walk in a well kept nature reserve but do wear walking boots it gets very muddy. dog walkers dogs on leads please and pick up the mess! still some not picking up their dog sh!t.
There is limited parking on lee road, opposite the entrance. stay on the farm track which leads into the wood. once in the wood there are several routes to follow, all the paths were easy to follow with the nature trail taking you into the heart of the wood. i was the only person around and managed to spot a deer although not quick enough to get a photo. a very enjoyable couple of hours spent wandering around this wood. my only complaint would be that there needed to be a more detailed map of where the footpaths were and there routes through the wood.
It was a stunning short walk around however, construction going on next to the dirt road that leads to a public footpath and if you're going there for the first time, it’s easy to miss it. there is some parking however is not so much and it’s just on the side of the road.
Lovely woods. you’re not supposed to let your dogs off the lead during the summer periods which isn’t ideal (but to protect wildlife). there’s paved sections which is a nice touch to make the walk a bit easier but you can go off into the woods too. not the biggest but worth exploring
