Dearne Valley Country Park

A lovely place to visit for a relaxing walk, or just to sit and watch the nature. all year round. free to use. and looking beautiful now thanks to the amazing litter picking volunteers. enjoy this beautiful, area, but please respect it too. not too many places like this left in the area, so let's treasure it.

Beautiful place for the wedding photos. local fishing lads and members of the public were very friendly. great choice for the wedding photo memories

Wonderful outdoor space to relax in. great for family picnics, there are tables provided. lots of grassy areas for children to fall down on! feed the ducks with peas or sweetcorn not bread.

A woodland and park reclaimed from the previous canal system. a section of which is available for fishing. still retains some of the original structures that once took the canal over the valley. using the path adjacent to the aldi store, which, by the way, has parking for a few cars, it is only a 10 minute walk to the lake. there is a car park at the lake for many cars and a skateboard lay out. most paths are wheelchair accessible and others are only accessible by foot. it is only 3 or 4 minutes by car from barnsley town centre.

Lovely little walk. my girls enjoyed seeing the ducks (including the little ducklings!) and the new paths are great for pushchairs. the only downside was a group of youths smoking drugs near the lake making the whole area smell unpleasant.
