As always in a great condition for summer! greens are in amazing condition, a well looked after course with good value green fees! i can't wait to get back over!
We are not golfers but visited the cafe in the golf club where the staff were absolutely lovely. the golf club was being used by its members for various meetings but there were still plenty of places to sit and feel comfortable. we sat at a table that gave us views to the course and a pond. we saw a heron necking a fish so a good place for watching wildlife. outside is a terrace with seating so looks lovely for warmer days. it's obviously off the beaten track but was a cosy place to enjoy a coffee.
The course conditions at basildon golf course were generally good and overall it was a challenging parkland course. the greens are very well kept, and the fairways are good, with light and deep rough. the twilight green fees were reasonable but a bit pricey at other tee times. unfortunately, there is no conventional driving range at this course, but there are some mats and a net by the clubhouse to hit some balls. the practice green was very large and one of the best i've seen in south essex; similar quality and pace to the greens on the course. we felt the course is let down by the fact there were lots of members of the public strolling across the course during play, kids riding bikes on the course, and lots of dog walkers. the course would benefit from some better quality flags, and i didn't see any rakes in the bunkers (maybe they get stolen). ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very enjoyable course, extremely pleasant and welcoming members.thank you to graham and his team for their hospitality which was second to none.
