“The London Marathon has been a high priority on my bucket list, and despite being a keen football, rugby and cricket player I never really had done much running or took it that seriously, and decided to give myself a new challenge. When I found out that I was accepted in the London Marathon ballot, I was extremely excited but did not know where to start. There is just so much to think about! Nutrition, training patterns, footwear, recovery, injury prevention, strength endurance training, running gait… the list goes on! So that is when I decided to seek out some expert help. Danny was incredibly helpful, and provided me with the structure that I really needed. We started by analysing my running gait to ensure that I do not develop any bad habits through training and helped me to really get to grips with how best to build up my miles safely and effectively, with the support of well structured nutrition plan and recovery protocols... and helped me get my head round the tapering process as I neared the event itself. This was also supported by sports massage treatment to look after my tissue health. Building up so many miles and running in the cold winter nights really can take its toll, but having a regular sports massage helped me to prevent injury, pain and fatigue and enabled me to get the most out of my training, so I was confident that despite that this was the first marathon that I had ever attempted, that I could finish it. Not only was Danny very supportive throughout the whole process, he was there on the day for further moral support, and a sports massage after the race was incredibly helpful to my recovery. I can’t thank Danny enough for his expertise and well rounded service, the combination of Sport Science and Therapy was undoubtedly beneficial for my journey from a new comer to running to a marathon finisher.”
