Spent a lovely hour wandering around the current art exhibition that is on display. previous themes have been mediums such as lego and wood. then went up to the archaeology galley. so interesting and a great place to start researching basingstoke!
Compact exhibition space in a convenient location, close to theatres, cinema, shops, restaurants and parking. have loved every exhibition i've been to there, including the current one featuring ladybird book artists. check opening days & hours before visiting as tickets need to be booked ahead due to the limitations on visitor numbers.
Really interesting local museum… their temporary shoe exhibition was particularly special. spanning 3 plus centuries, beautifully curated with interesting and clear interpretation. with the added bonus of a rare close up to many items on display. a must see for locals and non locals alike.
Very nice place, in walking distance from train station/shopping mall with parking and plenty of restaurants. museum itself may appear small, yet it manages to use little space quite well. there are several exhibitions, or so it was the case during my visit today, three to be precise. staff is very friendly and they do run little café for convenient snacks break. free entry is just cherry on top.
Great place to go and look at the history of basingstoke, the sainsbury art gallery was holding an exhibition of ian kirkpatrick and his 2d and 3d art pieces. worth a look, there is also a nice cafe situated at the back of the art gallery, a nice fresh look and very welcome. the gallery and museum was free on entry but donations are welcome. the lady who greeted us was very friendly and full of knowledge.
