Up & Running Basingstoke

I cannot praise Richard and this shop highly enough. Richard certainly knows his stuff and spent an hour with me trying different trainers watching me run etc ( the shop was quiet!) he listened to everything I said and matched me perfectly.. conscious of my budget the whole time. If you need any help with trainers for running get yourself over to Basingstoke.. London Marathon I’m ready to take you on!…. Sub 4!

I will say for the weekend warrior and new runne this shop will absolutely deliver on what you need, the staff are always incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and really try to give you what you need, I would hire them in an instant. Unfortunately and the reason for dropping stars is as a more frequent runner the range just does not cater for what I need. With the exception of the small altra range (of which are only there absolute maximumalist variations) all other shoes are of a steep heel drop and very maximumalist. There is a place for these shoes but you need variety. Small example, the Saucony Kinvara is arguably the most popular 4mm low drop everyday runner that exists, and they have removed it from the range. I understand why sadly ... The majority of customers just are not avid runners and you have to cater for the masses. It's just a shame I have since travelled to every other running shop in the Berkshire/Hampshire region and unfortunately it's the same story. As such my only options are to travel into London (which may still have the same outcome) or order online and risk all that comes with that.

Great experience. I went in looking for a new road shoe and was shown a great selection of shoes. Richard took the time to explain the benefits and differences, ultimately allowing me to make a good decision. Will be returning for their Monday evening 5km runs!

Amazing service here. We’ve been back three times to get me, my husband and teenage daughter running shoes. Plenty of choice and advice. The staff are all very knowledgable and friendly, and without judgement as to how much/often you run. So whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned runner putting in lots of miles a week, this place is great.
