Nando's Basingstoke - St Michael's

Nandos is normally my go to meal out especially having a family and allergies to contend with. Up until today Nandos would have been 5 stars but the service today was horrible. Normally offered a high chair but had to source our own. Asked if any of us had allergies and I said I did. I was then told that I had to order at the counter, politely replied that I'd eaten there many times before and knew that the chances of an allergic reaction were slim and I'd prefer to order through my phone like I always do. The guy was adamant he knew better than me when it came to my needs. This is no way to speak to a customer and nobody has ever done this before. I tried to order on my phone and was told that my order would be cancelled if I did so my husband reluctantly stood in the queue to order at the counter. 10 minutes later food was ordered and he was told our butterfly chicken would take 30 minutes for some reason. Others ordered butterfly chicken after us (at the counter) and theirs was delivered first. My toddler was screaming because she was hungry yet no food comes to our table just stares from staff and customers. We shouldn't have to bribe her with a phone to be quiet when the food is normally served very quickly. Nearly 40 minutes passed before we got our food, when considering half the tables were empty this is appalling. Normally we stay for dessert but didn't want to suffer any longer.

It used to be good. Have been there multiple times, but today I was really disappointed. We had a big order and food wasn’t really hot and came like 5-10 min later after ordering and didn’t taste as good as it usually tastes. Usually it takes time when freshly prepared. And I do expect, that it tastes good when I pay a lot of money for it! It seemed like there were a lot of newbies. Not sure, if management changed. Needs a lot of improvement. Felt like waste of money today. Sorry to say, but I could have cooked and enjoyed a much better meal at home for much less.

Haven't been here for ages. It was great to be back. Familiar, yet a little new. Still can't get the ketchup out of the glass bottles! Staff, as ever, friendly, smiley, and efficient. Food tasty and hot. Wine yummy. What's not to like?

This place was fantastic. Although it was a bit busy on a Saturday and we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated in the small waiting area, when we sat down and ordered the food was wonderful and came out quickly. The staff were friendly and the food portions were generous and tasty. I was also glad to see they had lots of plant based options. The food was hot and fresh. As always, the bottomless drinks were a hit. The place was also very clean and comfortable. I’d definitely come back here.

Usually this Nando’s is great however today they gave my starter to another table, without acknowledging when querying multiple times. The side was eventually refunded by management, whilst the rest of our orders/food quality was not checked, as evident by the infamous chicken still on the table at the end of our meal.
