Alpha Cars

Driver had no idea on the location of the drop off. Charge £22.80 for 4.4 miles!! The meter on the phone in the car said £9.90 but was told that was wrong. We was late to arrive at the wedding due to him being late and poor driving ability so didn’t have time to argue. I emailed Alfa Cars on Monday to request a quote for the same journey and have never heard back. Guess they knew it was me!!

Absolutely appalling service.Attending a wedding reception yesterday in Old Basing, various guests had pre booking taxis. Two cars were booked for 11.30pm, at midnight there was still no cabs, and told by Alpha they were awaiting freed up drivers! One couple got a cab arrival at 12.05 and the other couple got a lift with Friends. Two more cabs had been prebooked for midnight and when booking was made, told Alpha that one car was to include a 2yr old and 4yr old. 12.05 rang Alpha to ask when cars would arrive, again awaiting free drivers. Then two cars arrived for people who had already gone so took those two cars for family with children and the other couple and one person who had prebooked for 11.30 and was still waiting. Another couple had pre booked a taxi for 6 people, four of whom were children. Not only was the taxi late, Alpha only sent a car which could take four. This is totally unacceptable. The family with two very young children eventually got a text advising car had arrived at 12.30!! So they would have been locked out of hall waiting in the cold! If cars are prebooked there should be prebooked drivers!! The company is just totally greedy taking booking over people!!!

Usually great, but for the 3rd weekend in a row there's been no cab to fulfill my booking. I'd understand if it was a last minute booking, but it was booked the da before. Maybe don't double book your driver's. It's been worse since the new booking system was introduced

Not dog friendly, we booked our first taxi in advance and stated we had a dog which wasn’t a problem on the journey to our destination but when the taxi arrived he denied it was for us even though the number plate and description of the car was exactly what we got for our confirmation text that our taxi had arrived, so he left us and picked someone else up instead. We then booked a second taxi which we had to wait another hour for and they arrived and said ‘I’m scared of dogs’ 🙄 why call yourselves a dog friendly taxi service when your drivers are scared of dogs ?! We then had to wait another hour for our 3rd taxi which thankfully did take us home after waiting a total of 2.5hours being stranded at midnight. Will not use again

Alpha cars monopolises Basingstoke. There is no credible competition. People are left stranded at the end of evenings when trying to get a taxi. Even though you may have booked a taxi well in advance, it is not unusual for your taxi to be as much as an hour late, which happened to me at Xmas.. where the stock answer was its the time of the year and its busy.. I don't want to hear their Internal issues.. I just want a taxi and a taxi on time. If you want a taxi at any time its a big lottery as to when you get one within the hour. Friends of mine had their taxi cancelled last year and was left stranded in a rural location late at night and everything closing around them. Ringing them can also be a treat, with customer care not always their forté. I have even had the phone put down when trying to order a tricky booking the following week, not the first time either. Let's have Uber or let other companies be encouraged/allowed to promote healthy competition.. You can ask any Basingstoke resident and anyone will tell you how appealing and sometimes dire the taxi service is. People are not coming into the town centre as the can't get a booking back home. Basingstoke is in a very poor place when it comes to taxi services Come on Alpha.. wake up and do some proper polling with a view of making a change
