I am an adult beginner and have been learning acoustic guitar from richard for about 6 months. i didn’t know how and where to start learning but richard guided me in the right direction. i liked the lessons because they are fun, gentle and have structure. the studio location is great and price is reasonable. his teaching is very clear and easy to follow.
We organised guitar lessons for our 13 year old son before moving from australia. richard also had a guitar we could rent. communication was great and richard is very organised. our son loves his lessons with richard and enjoys a laugh with him. he has learned new techniques and really progressed in a short time. richard also organised for students to rehearse together in a studio and perform in a concert which was a wonderful opportunity. can highly recommend.
Richard teaches my 16year old son. he was recommended to us by another parent who said what a brilliant teacher he is — and he is. my son looks forward to his lesson with richard every week. richard was able to tune in to how my son learns and what he is interested in and tailors the lessons appropriately. he has also been extremely supportive and understanding about my son’s struggles with his mental health which has helped my son feel understood.
My 15 year son loves his lessons with richard. he's really developing his skill set and most importantly he has a real laugh with richard. my son is a shy lad and lacks confidence, but his lessons with richard have done so much for his self esteem. he's due to take part in the bath guitar school's annual gig soon, which shows just how far he's developed. my lad has also really benefited from the social aspect of richard's work shops and has met other people his age. i'm so glad we gave the lessons with richard a try, it's brought him on so much! 😀
Richard’s method really suits me as an adult complete beginner, in 10 sessions i am able to make my way through some basic songs which is really fulfilling for something that i thought would take many months to master a few chords. richard teaches the principles through songs and often finds songs that you like and are familiar with which makes motivation to practice second nature. he also uses well known songs to hammer home some of the key basics. it’s very clever and whilst clearly theoretically based not boring or difficult to learn. richard is very generous with his knowledge and building a connection with you coupled with a high level of patience! highly recommend
