Mellor Dog School

Freddy and i have had so much help from haley, phylis, fiona and daniel - especially when he chased sheep! the trainers are friendly and approachable and the dogs love it! i can certainly recommend this training school.

I have been taking my gsd to mellor dog school since he was safely allowed to socialise with other dogs. nearly two years later we are still going. my dog has learnt so much and has progressed through the classes. he has been taught by every trainer at some point all of which have been very proffesional. we have never had a problem with any other dogs ,infact my dog has socialised so much he is very comfortable and relaxed around any dog!

Had mine and my puppies first training session, wow there was a lot to take in, some changes to be made. indie loved the free play with the other puppies and went thru the tunnel on the agility. the training session pases quickly as the pups build confidence on the agility course, socialise with free play and then there is the training itself. looking forward to our next visit.

Having trained there for 3 years, i can tell you the wealth of knowledge of the experienced instructors simon and hayley, who use their many years of dog training experience to help me. i have seen a massive difference in my 8 year old springer, on the first lesson she buggered off for an ice cream! now she is on shoots every week beating and picking up perfectly! all thanks to the confidence and knowledge hayley has given me. never once have i seen any mistreatment of any of the dogs or any kids pinning dogs like previous reviews have stated, this reviews obviously come from jealous spiteful customers. this is an excellent dog school with a friendly family environment and friendly staff, if you want to have a trained dog, this is the place to go!

Hayley is superb, as are the other trainers, all are driven, knowledgeable and friendly. i love going to the training, and eventhough i originally took my doggy mostly to socialise with other dogs as lockdowns had not given my b a great chance to interact with many people and dogs, we are learning every visit. there are always several trainers per session, and every dog gets attention. sometimes the trainers show their own dogs, to give an example of what you can/may want to achieve and it's impressive to see the shepherds or labs be so focussed on their trainers. a lot of background is given on dog behaviour, adrenaline/dopamine etc, and it's all very helpful information. as to us, we only joined when b was already two years old, and so my little b already had a lot of skills, but she is now learning to do the exercises with distractions and especially around other dogs and we are tweaking her skills every day. we also learn new things, such as going around a cone at a distance, standing without walking forward, staying sat without moving when her lead gets pulled (by me or others) and all sorts of other fun stuff. we spent quite a bit of time in puppy training because the size of the pups match my 2.5 year old, but being jumped upon by house-sharks at playtime just wasn't quite doing it for b xd the trainers did make sure b would only be around the smaller and less confident pups so she would be able to socialise a little, and b grew more confident as time went by. i wasn't sure about joining an intermediate class because i was afraid b would get chased at playtime and be at risk with dogs bigger than her, but didn't realise intermediate doesn't include playtime! so we have now said goodbye to pup training and joined intermediate, and eventhough the dogs there are 6 times her size, my b. does really well ❤️ our b went from fearful to much more confident and i am much more confident now too. i'm super proud of her and very glad i found mellor dog school.
