Room and hotel all excellent, luxurious and clean. gym was adequate with the basics all there. the pool and spa closed at 8 though, early for a pool, so when you've paid a premium for the spa for it not to be open is misguided management and leaves me feeling short changed. for many guests, maybe not an issue, but for a business traveller wanting to unwind after travel, not so good. restaurant has a very small menu, but in fairness the waiting staff were pleasant and the food tasty. pasta was really overcooked, but the meal was flavoursome and fresh overall. some tweaks, and it could be a standout venue, as the location is easy to get to, a lovely set of buildings, and nice views, only let down by not being able to use the facilities, and the overcooked food. you might say picky, but competition at this higher price point is stronger, so just trying to be fair and balanced. all that said, it didn't disappoint and would recommend overall for sure.
What a beautiful place, booked a thursday special for me and my daughter, which included thermal spa for 2 hours, evening meal, over night stay in the manor house and breakfast for £225. the staff were all so lovely and couldn't do enough to help. the setting and views are so nice and the spa was great with robes and flip flops supplied, we had a coffee in the lounge after the spa which over looked the terrace, it was just so peaceful, we felt so relaxed and looked after the whole way. the evening meal was delicious, the baratta starter was 1 of the best things i'd eaten in ages, followed by the fish pie. my daughter had roast parsnip soup with mini baguettes followed by gnocchi, which was also very yummy. the room was spacious with character and the bed was so comfy with black out curtains, good job i set an alarm i was out for the count. we got breakfast in bed which was all so tasty and good quality. we can't wait to come back for another treat soon.
Photographed a wedding here with a colleague and found it to be a fantastic venue, the staff were helpful, the setting is gorgeous with plenty of places to use for photography. the rooms were really nice that we had use of and there’s a lovey spa and pool facility. it’s a large venue that can cater for two separate events simultaneously whilst keeping both parties separated.
My daughters wedding... after a very slight bumpy start during the booking and leading up to the event, due to a change over of management and wedding team, i cannot praise victoria the gm, sharon and megan enough. my daughter truly had the greatest day. the whole event was dressed and decorated by cube and looked fantastic. the wedding breakfast food, drinks and service was great. then a super quick turnaround for a fabulous evening wedding party. the suites and rooms in the manor house and woodlands were lovely. victoria, sharon & megan at stanley house really did go the extra mile to make it the best ever day for my daughter. thank you
