We came here to visit mary shelly’s gravesite and were a little disappointed. the church is really beautiful but the cemetery is a little run down. a good stop if you’re close by but not super worthwhile if it’s a big detour.
Surprisingly beautiful church right in the heart of bournemouth. well worth a visit if you're in the town.
Beautiful church. st peter's church is a church of england parish church located in the centre of bournemouth, dorset, england. it is a grade i listed building classed as a 'major parish church', and was completed in 1879 to a design by george edmund street as the founding mother church of bournemouth. the building incorporates work by some of the finest gothic revival architects and artists, including street, george frederick bodley, ninian comper, arthur blomfield and edward burne-jones, with stained glass and frescoes by clayton and bell. the chancel has been described as 'one of the richest gothic revival interiors in england'.[1] the 202-foot (62 m)-high spire is a landmark in bournemouth's centre, where it is the town centre parish church, together with the churches of st stephen and st augustine.
Came here at the model of the moon was on display. the moon itself was pretty cool but the church is a piece of amazing architecture. definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, and i believe mary shelly is buried in the ground also if you are in to that sort of history. local parking nearby and not far away from the centre of town or the beach.
Wonderfully decorated, peaceful church in the heart of bournemouth. take a detour to the shelley tomb if you have time - what a family!
