Wow, what an incredible experience, easily the best meal i've had in bridgend. we were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation on a saturday night, it was full soon after. everything we had was delicious sashimi, crispy squid, octopus balls, sushi rolls, hand rolls, futo maki. the sashimi platter was really fresh and tasted great, also looked fantastic. all the staff were great but an extra shout out to helen who was fantastic. we almost drank the whole cocktail menu, they were a bargain at £8.50 each. we finished with some delicious sake too. can't wait to return to try more dishes
After eating gin and sake takeaway almost weekly, we were excited to go to the restaurant. the decor is gorgeous and the food is beautifully presented. the service was great however some improvement of knowledge of the menu may be beneficial. portions are slightly on the smaller side so if you have a slightly bigger appetite i suggest ordering some sides to accompany. overall beautiful evening! will definitely return.
The food itself was absolutely beautiful and the interior of the building has been very well thought out and adds to the authentic feel. personally i felt that value for money wasn't there overall with a bill of a £160 between two couples, i'd deem this rather excessive. a 250ml glass of rose wine being £8.50 made me feel like i was sat in london, not bridgend. service was generally very good although one of the offers they had on, did not automatically deduct, which caused some confusion with the waitress but was rectified rather quickly. the last thing i will touch on, is that of the seating arrangements. i can't help but feel that there are too many tables and chairs close to each other. luckily for us we had a round table with a plush curved bench seat and two chairs. where as the other static tables next to us, definitely did not provide a comfortable place to eat imo. i think this restaurant will be great for those fanatics of this type of cuisine or for special occasions a few times a year.
New restaurant in bridgend, food was nice, we haven't tried sushi yet, but we will be back to try it. the food was nice and the drinks were delicious. space between tables is small, so you can hear conversations next to you. service ok, the waiters were very polite but a bit confused. they brought the same dish 3 times to our table.
Opening night for gin and sake was fabulous. we've ordered takeaway prior to the restaurant being completed, and always enjoyed the food, but the atmosphere and presentation cannot be replicated at home. our server was noah, who was attentive, polite and set a wonderful impression for what to expect. the food was fresh, lovingly put together and absolutely gorgeous. the drinks were new and exciting, and presented well. we cannot wait to visit again! forget wagamamas, gin&sake is a at true taste of japan in bridgend.
