Duncan and his team designed a fantastic ground floor extension for me, incorporating every detail i had asked for. they provided an exceptional service, were professional throughout and very patient! i would highly recommend domain.
Gosh what a find. duncan and all the team at domain have been amazing. within a very short space of time i have met them, discussed my plans for my grade 2 listed pub in a conservation area of brighton, they have talked me through what will work and wont and have the plans drawn up ready for pre planning advice. duncan's knowledge has been second to none and with irene being a constant point of call i could not of been happier with the service so far. i look forward to moving my project forward with them on board.
I employed domain for the entire project of my new build house which at the time was my garden. after an initial consultation with duncan, i decided domain were the practice for me. duncan took my initial idea right through to outline planning (including fighting a denied decision on appeal), design & specification, tender/selection of contractor, site visits/management of build/certification. i can't speak highly enough of domain and from my experience i would definitely use them again for any projects in the brighton area. they provide advice and hand-holding for all aspects of the entire project which i have not found with other architects i have employed in the past. i am now the proud owner of a great house - well done domain!
Because i've never had to alter any property i've lived in beyond putting up shelves, this is the first time i've ever had to work with an architect. my flat is in a grade ii listed building, which is always sold as something desirable on an estate agent's listing, but which starts to feel more like a millstone when you come to have any work done. i was concerned that the listed status would make me feel that the architect considered the building to be their client rather than myself, but i needn't have worried. duncan definitely considers that buildings should be useful, that they should fit their inhabitants rather than the other way round, and he was equally respectful of my wishes and the building's historical significance, while still able to advise on matters of economy and good taste. because of my lack of experience i chose to have duncan take charge of the planning application, and although this seemed expensive at the outset, the process was even more complicated (and slow) than i'd expected and so was, in retrospect, quite reasonable. in all, a thorny and circuitous process made so much easier by choosing an architect with the right experience and invaluable amounts of patience and good humour.
We have just completed a great contemporary extension on a house in haywards heath for domain’s they provided the most detailed information that we have ever been supplied with, avoiding expensive delays and cost overruns on site that we so often encounter. we look forward to working with them again. jamie@stylorenovations.
