Science Tutor GCSE

Alison has been tutoring my son for the last year as he was struggling with science and self belief. He has just completed his exams and regardless of the grade I know he feels good about his progress and self esteem . This is down to Alison’s nurturing and kind manner and we will be forever grateful to her for that . Highly recommend .

Alison has been a wonderful tutor for my son as he headed towards his GCSE exams. Coming out of the third lock down his predicted grades for his sciences were very low, he'd fallen behind and was struggling to engage with the work at school. A few lessons in with Alison it was heartening to hear him saying things like 'I get it now' and 'I now understand x or y'. Alison was so encouraging and patient with him. And yesterday, when the GCSE results came out, we learnt that he got a 7-7 in his Combined Sciences. My son's first comment was 'I couldn't have done that without Alison's help'. So proud of him and so grateful for Alison's support 🙂.

Alison has been brilliant with my son in the 7 or 8 months she has been tutoring him in GSCE Combined Science. I sat through Alison’s first session and was impressed with the down to earth, fun way she introduced subjects and with the quizzes that she gets students to complete (through an app) so that she can assess how well the subject area has been understood. By the time my son got to his GCSE exams he was much more confident about the subject and the only regret he had was that he hadn’t started the sessions a bit earlier. This coming from someone who really didn’t want to have a tutor at all. As well as being an excellent science tutor Alison is a very nice person and I feel that this is perhaps her biggest asset. As a result my son really enjoyed his sessions with her and that is half the battle in my opinion. Thoroughly recommended.

Alison has been a fantastic science tutor for my son who was really struggling prior to his GCSEs. Alison is friendly and approachable and tailored the sessions to focus on the areas he really needed support in. Alison has increased his confidence and performance in all the sciences and his school science teacher could not believe how much he improved. My son had fallen behind in science and was put into the foundation class in Year 10. He had completely lost confidence and found it all very difficult. The transformation that Alison brought about was incredible. Within a couple of weeks his marks at school were improving and he was quickly out of foundation class and into the higher level, improving all the time. Instead of struggling with science he really started to enjoy it. His twin sister then asked if she could have Alison as a tutor too, to improver her GCSE grades. They’ve just sat their GCSEs and were happy with every science paper, confident that they had the knowledge to get a good result. Alison has been an absolutely brilliant tutor to both of them. Not only does she build their knowledge incredibly well but she also gave them both much more confidence and a genuine enjoyment of science that will stay with them. Her teaching is superb, but she also has exceptional interpersonal skills and empathy that makes a massive difference when teaching. If you wanted to design the perfect GCSE science tutor, you would design a copy of Alison! We’re hugely grateful to her and always will be.
