The Coal Shed Restaurant Brighton

Went out for a very special birthday meal at the Coal Shed in Brighton this past bank holiday Monday. What a special experience! It is expensive, there is no hiding that but the food was beautiful as was the atmosphere and dining experience in general. The wine list is as long as your arm, and they have some unique wines too such as a very clean and delicate tasting orange wine that I selected for myself. I have included some photos of what my group and I chose from the menu. From monkfish, to a whipped ricotta salad, sour dough bread with butter and chicken salt, rib eye steak, short rib mac and cheese, broccoli with confit garlic, triple cooked chips, luxury onion rings and a 600g chateaubriand shared between two of the group. Everything I personally ate or tried was perfectly cooked and soso yummy. Would absolutely reccomend treating yourself to a special lunch or dinner out here if you can!

Absolutely fantastic. The nicest meal I've had in a long time. Perfect service, delicious, fabulously cooked beef short rib. Lovely setting, cool, relaxed and sophisticated.

Overall it should really have been a 5 star, however the service was pretty slow and they charged me an 18% service fee on top of the already highly priced meal for the slow service! Oysters... Delicious Steak... Cooked perfectly and very delicious Cauliflower... Delicious Brocolini... Delicious

10/10 on everything! It’s a beautiful restaurant with great food and ambience. Service was great as well. I totally recommend it and can’t wait to go back. Only thing I might suggest is to introduce some ambient music to further enhance the ambience.

Was an hour early for our lunch reservation, but the team were accommodating and welcoming. Came to celebrate my daughter's graduation and it was the perfect lunch to celebrate with. The food was delicious and cooked well. They brought out a little celebration ice cream cake, which was a lovely surprise. Service was impeccable and we were well looked after. Thank you!
