It's been a while since i visited. definitely as good as i remember. best of all, they now have an excellent selection of locally sourced craft ale. i opted for the sunday lunch with nut roast. all the food was excellent. as was the service.
The shibden mill inn is nestled in the yorkshire countryside. it's quite a bit out of the way, you may think you're heading to a farm. it is popular enough to warrant 2 car parks... this is due to the fact it is a place to stay as well as a pub and restaurant. the staff are friendly and attentive, you won't find yourself wanting for long before they bring food and drink to you. nice old pub vibe, in a lovely setting. the food was nice, but over-fanciful. you'll spend half your time working out what each dish is before ordering. i had a roast beef dinner (it wasn't called anything as common as that though) and it was nice but they put the yorkshire pudding on top of the meal to make it look fancier and didn't put any gravy in the pudding itself, so it was dry. i don't think my family really enjoyed their food too much either. not because it was bad, but because the pretty looking dishes took away from the taste and quantity. the place is stunning, so if you wanted a nice pint or a room to stay a couple of nights, i'd recommend. all i'll say is, make sure you're not skint.
Visited yesterday for a celebration meal with my family. absolutely amazing food presented by friendly and attentive staff. clearly way beyond the standard you would expect from just good pub food. i understand the menu changes on a regular basis so no point explaining what we had! a thoroughly enjoyable evening and thank you to ella (hope i got your name right!) for looking after us all evening.
Now, this is a diamond tucked away. love the character of the building. rooms are very nice with wooden beams everywhere (watch your head). the restaurant, bar, and breakfast room are all beautifully decorated. food and drinks are excellent. the staff are professional, friendly, and helpful...well trained. it's definitely worth a stay.
Such a beautiful dining experience for my partners birthday, you can see why the shibden mill inn is rated in the michelin guide. the staff were really friendly and warming, the food was exceptional and the the decor was lovely. we opted for the tasting menu which i’d highly recommend and there is the option for a wine pairing too. all in all a lovely evening and we will definitely be back in the future.
