I went to the Milton recycling plant today to dispose of some empty folders that once belonged to my late father-in-law. They had stickers from a business he used to own, but they were completely empty, with even the metal parts removed for better recycling. A staff member refused to take them, insisting they were "business waste," despite my explanation. When I asked where I could recycle them, he dismissed it as "not his problem" and told me I’d need to hire a firm to dispose of them. Had I simply removed the stickers and said they were mine from school, they probably would have taken them. This kind of rigid and unhelpful attitude discourages people who make the effort to recycle—it’s no wonder some resort to fly-tipping or just using the black bin.
