Ossies Fish Bar Canterbury

Price : the price was too high we paid13 pounds for a fish and chips. Be careful it is written 7.80 pounds for CHILDREN. For adults it is NOT written. Very tricky and not fair from the owner Quality : everything is cooked in the same oil, the potatoes tasted like the fish. The fish is not fresh. Quantity : good portion Customer service : the man who took our order was disrespectful. We asked him a simple question : is it cooked with alcohol? He didn't want to answer the question. Moreover he was annoying us with his disrespectful remarks such as "you want this (showing the salt)? There is no alcohol in it". I wouldn't recommend trying this adress for tourists. There is better elsewhere.

This is the best shop in Canterbury, not just the size of the chips which are big as they should be, they do not use polystyrene trays that in this time of waste is unbelievable. And the portions are big.

Service seemed hostile - the two guys seemed to raise their voices to each other speaking another language and acted as if I was a nuisance being there to order something as a customer. Odd. I ordered a battered jumbo sausage, small chips, a can of coke and a sachet of ketchup. 8 POUNDS!!! I’m pretty sure I was ripped off, as the menu said different. I didn’t have time to complain as I had to be somewhere, but I won’t come again. The food is nice, but the service is abysmal - as well as a scam.

I don't eat seafood, only had fish once maybe in the past 20 years or more but I wasn't coming to England without eating some fish and chips. I can't compare it with much but it was filling and fairly enjoyable. The man at the counter was very friendly, I liked having a chat with him although he was making some fairly borderline comments about coming home with me. I ate inside on the seats with it on my lap, there were no tables but it was comfortable enough.
