Comfortabel hotel. good beds and shower. reasonable prices. good breakfast. plenty of staff and friendly. pub with outdoor seating next door but this being in england, closes early. close to the west gate, city center and the train station.
Just came for food and it was lovely. amazing pizza and atmosphere was good. great attentive staff who made us feel welcome and saw that everything we needed was there. definitely will be back
The falstaff is in a great location to walk into central canterbury with so many shops and restaurants around the amazing cathedral. there was a river down the street with small boats to take take you for a ride. the person at the front desk was not overwhelmingly knowledgeable or friendly, but adequate. the bar staff were great with a full bar and draft beers. the breakfast was delicious. hot choices and continental. the room was decorated nicely and we loved the old building structure and quirkiness. there was a car park in the back. the only thing i have to say negative is that our room faced the street and a bus stop across the street. at night people would gather outside the hotel late at night there and were loud as were others just below our window in small groups. i am not sure why they were there with no bars closeby but i did not want to be walking from canterbury after 10 down that street.
The hotel is ok but nothing special. rooms are quite small and feel a little cramped. ground floor rooms at front are on the street next to a pub (with live music) so very noisy. service is adequate but table clearance (glasses) in lounge is very slow. reception staff could be more friendly, didn’t feel that the greeting on arrival was genuine. range of beers could be better as bar menu seemed to be mainly lagers.
Had a lovely stay last night in a cozy double room that faces the main road. bit noisy early morning but we don't mind a bit of traffic. hotel location is really good, close to the westgate & ideal for popping into the city centre. staff are warm & friendly, pizza was tasty but not impressed with breakfast. my wife's eggs benedict weren't runny & i got scrambled eggs instead of fried. other than that it was ideal. will definitely be back as it was a good deal & it had private parking overnight for £12. i recommend this hotel .
