Lovely woodland park with lots of different routes running all around and through it. Wide variety of land with open plains, wooded areas rivers and old quarry remains. Excellent parking and conveniently located.

Woodland park is great for walking you dog or having a picnic. The thing is when you come with children it boring for them as the only parks are scooter parks and they’re about a 15-20 minute walk to get there from the parking lot. Also there’s hardly any maintenance happening at the park and i didn’t see 1 restroom. Another good thing is that it has a pond that ducks come in one in a while but i didn’t see any last time.

Lovely woodland park with excellent facillities for dog walking and some horse riding trails. Geocaches here too! Lots of work has been undertaken recently to improve accessibility and biodiversity. There are boardwalks around the pond system and a wild flower meadow. Regularly used by families and organised groups for a range of activities. No toilets at the site, but its not so big that youre more than 15 minutes from the very large car park. If its been raining, there maybe areas that are flooded, so bring wellies or just stick to the main route. Theres a bmx stunts area, a fairy garden and a giant tyre snake for the kids. My favourite spaces are down by the river with the old oak trees and up the hill where the old colliery slag was dumped (theres some great pioneer species there for the botanical enthusiast). A hidden gem.

Great place for dog walkers, runners and some trails are suitable for horse riders (look out for the signs). Some paths are wheelchair accessible, there are quite a mix of rough and firm paths to explore. There are plenty of seats dotted around to rest when needed or just to take in the view. Remember to keep your dog on a lead unless they have great recall, and carry plenty of poo bags please.

Lovely country walk through the woods with our dogs, lots of varied paths to follow through different parts of the woods. Perfect for long dog walks, great location and huge car park..
