I have a 28-year history of back problems, ranging from a herniated disc, Psoas muscle spasms, sciatica, chronic hip and back pain, altered sensation due to nerve damage. Cheryl works closely with you in both a hands-on practical manner, but also educating you about your body/ condition and teaching you to look holistically at your welfare. Stressful responses can have a huge impact and learning how to deal with them, is equally as powerful as using physical movement to help with conditions and pain relief. The knowledge that these movements can be so small, but the effect so huge has been mind-blowing. With Cheryl’s help, I’ve learnt to have a greater insight into my body, I’ve learnt a range of movements/exercises I can utilise, which allow me to help myself. What Cheryl has given me is freedom, an ability to trust my back again, the capacity not to fall back into panic mode, when I do have pain and most importantly, a tool kit of solutions that allow me to help myself, when those situations occur again. I’m not naïve to believe that me and my back won’t have issues again, but I have gained more confidence, I have more control over both my emotional and physical responses to those issues. I have completed a package with Cheryl of eight 1:1 Somatic sessions and I am delighted with all I have achieved and learnt. I also have the knowledge that I can call upon Cheryl for further treatment or education if I need it.
