The New London

The bottomless brunch on Saturday afternoons are excellent. Food is delicious and the waiters are very generous with the Prosecco. Great ambiance to the restaurant. Highly recommended.

I've been wanting to visit this restaurant for a little while having seen that it recently been modernised. So as we were meeting friends on Saturday this seemed like an ideal opportunity as Chelmsford is in between where we all live. Set on the outskirts of the town and just a 15 minute stroll from the station in a peaceful part of the town. As we entered we could here a lot of noise the reason being they do a Bottomless Prosecco Lunch deal on a Saturday. I can honestly say that if there was just the two of us I would have apologised but left straight away. But there was four of us so in we went and as it happened by the time we got to our mains the majority had left. Now on to the lunch itself where the food was good as was the service. We started with the white crab meat , the roasted pigeon & the smoked mackerel with a Crispy Hens Egg which were very nicely cooked and presented although the crab meat starter did seem quite small We then moved onto our mains the Maple Pork Loin , the pan fried Chalkstream Trout while two of us had the Roast Lamb Rump together with sides of Truffle Fat Chips & vegetables. All dishes were very good and again nicely cooked and presented Before dessert we decided to share a cheese course which consisted of 8 cheeses from around Britain & Ireland together with crackers , grapes & chutney Now it time to finish with desserts they had a choice of 5 so we decided to order them all a milk chocolate iced parfait , clotted cream pannacotta , the hot ginger cake , lemon drizzle cake & the chocolate fondant which did have a slight issue as it came with a basil sorbet that was quite strong. We informed the waiter who said it was something new that the chef was trying therefore thanked us for our feedback This brought to an end a very nice lunch to which we all enjoyed. If I was to return and as their open all day on Saturday it would be in the afternoon or an evening. But if your a group and a Prosecco Lunch is for you then this a nice restaurant for that as the food and service is good

Really enjoyed lunch at the New London in Chelmsford today. We had the chateaubriand which is always excellent but they also have a good plant-based menu. Presentation was very sharp as seen in the photos.

One of the best restaurants I have been to. Opted for set menu for 2 people, loved each and every dish. Wonderfully presented and tasted even better. Surprisingly we were the only ones in the restaurant when we walked in on a Thursday afternoon. Highly recommended in Chelmsford. Cheers.
