Essex Dog Trainer

We've used alex a number of times over the course of the last 8/9 months. prior to this we were at our wits end with our new german shepherd puppy - rafa. he was never aggressive, but a nightmare to walk, seemingly unable to relax, reactive to pretty much everything. generally just exhausting to live with. we were close to giving him up for adoption but couldn't go through with it. i'm so, so happy we didn't. over the course of our sessions with alex we've seen a huge difference in rafa's temperament and all of the areas we were struggling with. he's still full of energy and life but we're much better trained ourselves to direct that and rafa is much more engaged with us - wanting to focus on us and what we want him to do. it's literally changed our lives. both my partner and i can't speak highly enough of alex and the sessions we've had. we'd used, or tried to use, a couple of other trainers in the chelmsford area and were either given bog-standard advice you can find on the internet, or people unwilling to work around/with the covid restrictions at the time. alex has accomodated us at home and outside, working on all areas of obedience and maturity with rafa. most importantly my partner and i got the training we've needed in order to handle and care for an extremely lively dog! as above - i can't recommend alex enough, great value for money, timely/responsive and so relaxed & in control. worth your time and money without a doubt.

Alex came out yesterday to help us with our rescue pup, violet. i have a lot of experience with rescue dogs, but violet had me at a stalemate - alex has helped me understand what is going on in her head, and how to counter her actions without applying too much pressure & tipping her over the edge. alex spent hours with us, firstly observing violet around the family & discussing everything with us, then working with violet outside. it took a while, because violet is exceptionally nervous, but with patience alex had her responding & working for him. i've worked with a few trainers before, but i can hands down say alex is the best. he listens, he watches, he understands & he explains everything as it happens. he doesn't dominate a dog with fear or aggression, and he knows when they have had enough. violet came in absolutely knackered mentally, but this morning there has been a noticeable difference in her responsiveness to commands etc. she will need many sessions & a lot of work, but i have every confidence that alex will help her be able to relax & live her best life. cannot recommend enough!

I was having issues with my gsd puppy. four other behaviourist and he was getting worse. we travelled 90 minutes to see alex, and in a few hours, he was a different dog. we had to have him sedated to go to the vets prior, so i took him into the vets and they asked if he was the same dog. i am so pleased that he can be the dog we thought he could be. would highly recommend, alex and his team. we will be seeing them again for further advice and guidance.

We have been working with alex for the past few months and i am super impressed with my dog’s progress. alex has shown us how to better spend our time together, learn in a more structured way, progress patiently for faster gains and most importantly… have fun! my pup is enjoying obedience, he is happy to work, his drive has increased significantly and our relationship is on another level. we have also used the boarding school services for when we have been away and our pup came back even better trained. alex’s team have been so friendly, really approachable and i can see how our dog loves spending time with them.

My experience with alex was truly amazing. in just 20 minutes, he worked wonders with our stubborn shar-pei mix and had him walking calmly on a leash. alex's approach was to train us as owners, rather than solely focusing on the dog. he provided clear instructions on how to maintain the new behavior, which has resulted in an immediate positive impact on our daily routine. i highly recommend alex for his exceptional skills and expertise in dog training.
