Springfield Lock

Nice river walk from the city centre. Newly refurbished lock gates in 2017. The local area has been recently renovated with a new housing estate on the south side. It’s a nice albeit long (7 miles) walk along the river all the way to Papermill Lock and beyond.

Decent location for a walk. Good cycling lanes, plenty of parking options nearby

Quality swanage on the river. It's a bit misleading as I couldn't get myself locked-up no matter how much I tied. Tranquil beauty.

If ever I go on a walk and I come to a river or canal I always like to cross the body of water on a bridge or similar structure rather than jump in and swim. Fortunately, there was a bridge here which, coincidentally, happened to be on the path I was following. Well done Chelmsford.
