I have been lucky to have had the very best sour dough from bear bakery right from the early days of when they delivered during the start of the pandemic. the bakery is outstanding. whenever i am in chester (since moved over into wales) i always try and fit in a bear bakery visit. they bread, the pastries, the lunch options are always 👌🏼👌🏼. a place for foodies who want something incredibly tasty, a bit different and delicious. they are also more environmentally friendly than any alternative and why not support a small business and team of talented people when you can? more expensive yes, but what you get in return is wonderful. angie
The best sourdough in chester! everything i've had has been delicious, from the sausage rolls to cakes and loaves it's all good quality and really tasty. it's great that you can pop in and buy from the bakery directly.
Real asset to chester, had the olive and confit garlic sourdough which ended up in my eating half the loaf myself for lunch. keep up the good work
Absolutely unreal gear. get a sourdough and every meal you make from it will be infinitely better. buy some other stuff, it'll be the best of that thing you've ever had.
Earlier today i had the pleasure of visiting the bear bakery a local, small, artisan sourdough bakery and i must say, it was an absolute delight. from the moment i walked through the door, i was greeted with the heavenly aroma of freshly baked bread, and i knew i was in for a treat. it was so refreshing to be able to see both a working bakery up close and the finished goods at the same time. their sourdough bread is simply outstanding. it has the perfect crust, with just the right amount of crunch, and a soft, chewy interior with a tangy, complex flavour that only comes from expertly fermented dough. i have also tried their rye bread, which makes awesome toast, especially when spread with good salted butter. the focaccia is a particular favourite, the flavours vary but the roasted garlic and rosemary is absolutely awesome and just begs to be eaten with buratta and a chilled glass of dry white wine. but the bread is only the beginning. the bakery also offers a variety of pastries and sweets, all made with the same level of care and attention to detail as the bread. the bear croissants are flaky and buttery, with layers that practically melt in the mouth. the bear pies and rolls can only be described as legendary, when it features as a special i make every effort to secure a rabbit pie. as an avowed carnivore i love the pork pies and sausage rolls and will always choose them first, however on those days where only bear rolls are left, i must begrudgingly admit that these veggie rolls are so damn tasty. the bear custard tart is rumoured to be from a recipe by marcus wareing, it is divine. marcus couldn’t bake it any better himself. if you get the chance don’t hesitate, buy a slice. one thing that really stands out about this bakery is the passion and dedication of the small, friendly, and dedicated team. they clearly take pride in their craft, and it shows in every bite. it's refreshing to see a small, local business that truly cares about their product and their customers. overall, i would highly recommend this artisan sourdough bakery to anyone who appreciates quality baked goods. whether you're a sourdough bread lover, a pastry aficionado, or just someone who enjoys great food, this bakery is a must-visit. opposite the bakery is a great coffee shop serving some of the best flat whites outside new zealand. on a saturday there might be a small queue at the bakery, grab a coffee and plan what to buy, you will not be disappointed
