As an extremely nervous patient, I can't praise this dental surgery enough. From the kind receptionists through to my retained root surgical extractions, they have been fab. Dr akeel and his nurse were amazing, my whole body was shaking from the nerves but they put me at ease, taking time over the injections so I hardly felt much, and holding my hand throughout. The skill of Dr akeel meant that the whole process was over in half an hour, I was thoroughly impressed and felt very at ease

I can’t praise Fiona and her assistant highly enough for the way that Fiona and her assistant April looked after me in my recent appointment, Not only was Fiona’s hygiene treatment very thorough and attentive as usual, but she and April also worked hard to provide the support and reassurance that I needed to put me at ease, as I am by nature a nervous patient.

I can't praise them enough😊 I have major dental phobia so even thinking about going to a dentist brought on aniexty. Hazel the receptionist was brilliant, if it wasn't for her being so kind, patient and caring I wouldn't have made my appointment. She was very reassuring. I saw Dr Akeel and his nurse Lucy, from the start Lucy was very friendly and reassuring. Dr Akeel was so very patient with me, went at my pace and didn't rush and make me feel bad. I went back for treatment under sedation and the whole process was a breeze. I wish more dentists were as kind and caring, understanding and patient, as this dental practice are. I recently had an implant following a cracked tooth and I was extremely impressed by each part of the process. Not only do they have the latest and best technology but also have the best team of people I have come across in a long time. There was one particular person that stood out, Franciska Veldhuizen (Fran). I am not sure I have ever met someone so caring. Her attention to detail for putting the patient first is unrivalled and would be a perfect fit for anyone scared of going to the dentist. Thank you all for making what could have been a very unpleasant experience, a joy.

I needed a new orthodontist fairly urgently (fixed retainer was failing – fitted a long time ago in a different part of the country). Jay Patel was recommended to me by the receptionist at my own dental practice. Despite having a very busy schedule, Jay fitted in an appointment for me quickly, for which I am very grateful. He was in touch with me prior to my appointment and sent me a comprehensive report with treatment plan and payment options. I’ve just had my first appointment with Jay (and Sophie) and I am already very impressed with the professionalism and friendly service I have received. I was also made to feel very welcome by Emma at Reception, who had been very helpful when I was trying to book an appointment. The practice is very modern and comfortable and I would highly recommend Jay at Colchester Dental Specialist Centre if you are looking for an orthodontist.
