Beresfords Estate Agents - Colchester

I had a wonderful experience dealing with them, and now I have a beautiful flat in the centre of Colchester. We can now quickly open our gate and walk to any store in town or move anywhere from a bus stop nearby. Also, the rent and condition of flat is appreciable. I think Beresford is fantastic. Thanks

Beresfords on the most part are okay, However they have failed in letting themselves into my property without prior knowledge (I check emails daily including junk); even though both I and my partner have expressed to not enter the property when we are away. Even with every 4 month inspection we have never missed one email or inspection, this un-authorised entrance falls flat of what is expected from you letting agent and home. This breach of privacy is a basic requirement I feel any company should follow. I feel sorry of who doesn't have cctv and how many homes they do this unwillingly to without anyone knowing. The fact they take pictures during these inspections I would have thought they would have better privacy standards. UPDATE: Recently Beresfords have contacted me apologising for this situation and stated that this shouldn't have happened. They were honest in stating that they did not send me an email although all other inspections on the day in question did get an email. When discussing going forward I suggested instead of treating no response as a "okay and go ahead" to enter my property that only explicit confirmation will be used going forward in my case. This was accepted with a very can-do attitude. I will note that I was questioned about this review and asked to update as it was felt "that 1 star was harsh" considering they made a honest mistake. In reflection, with maintenance mainly being okay with a few issues taking multiple times to repair, I wouldn't fault beresfords for this, rather the repairs made by contractors or just being the nature of repairs and the property itself. Also when it comes to the paperwork side of things I cannot say they're not fair, I did have to pay fees early on in my tenancy to have internet installed (on top of my ISP installer costs) as this was deemed a change of contract but I would hope that this is because beresfords want everything documented and altered between us and the landlord. I have updated my rating accordingly and will say, on the most part Beresfords have been better than other letting agents I've used in the past, it's a shame that this mistake has happened however I appreciate their concern to addressing the matter.
