Smile Together

Accessed Smile Together's Emergency out-of-hours service for my 9 year old Young Person, who had had an accident in the skate-park earlier that day. Despite the long wait on hold twice waiting to get through on the phone, I couldn't fault the service at all. Understandably, they are in high demand and emergency appointments are allotted on the day at the beginning of each shift (Tip: you need to dial the emergency number at 8.30am or 5.30pm on the dot, to get an appointment). When we had got through and been allotted an appointment slot, we had to leave immediately to make it in time. Sadly we weren't able arrive on time due to evening traffic, but the admin staff were really accommodating and called to check-in to see how our journey in was going so they could make adjustments their end. This meant when we arrived the dental team was ready for us and we were able to head straight in rather than having to wait around in the waiting room, which massively reduced my Young Person's anxiety. The Paediatric Dental Team understood my Young Person's additional needs that I had communicated over the phone when booking; explained everything to him simply and clearly before they started/when they needed to change approach; gave them time to process the information they were sharing and make their own choices (& change their mind!); went at a pace they felt comfortable with and stopped whenever they signaled; made sure they had a thorough check over, as they hadn't a dental examination recently; repaired the badly chipped tooth carefully and made sure they were happy with the result; and explained what I needed to look out for + have followed up as a parent. As a parent who hasn't been able access NHS Dentistry Services since 2019 and isn't currently able to afford Private Dental Care, I am really grateful to the Smile Together's emergency services and the team on-call on Mon evening (24/7/23). They made my Young Person's 1st experience of having Dental Treatment a positive one, despite the traumatic circumstances that had lead them to be there!

Can't speak highly enough of the service here. Had the misfortune of needing the emergency dentist twice in five days. I can't be the easiest of patients - low pain threshold, overactive gag reflex, but Grace and the team were brilliant. I was seen on time, everything was explained clearly and everyone was so friendly. Can't say I'm looking forward to going again but at least I'll know I'm in good hands.

This morning I took my 90 year old Aunt to Smile Together, Truro after getting an emergency appointment as she had a large abscess under a tooth. I would just like to say the way she was looked after, firstly by the receptionist who spent a lot of time putting her at ease and then by Charlie, the dentist, who removed the tooth painlessly and also kept her feeling relaxed. If every dentist had a "Charlie" no one would mind going to visit the dentist. We are on holiday from Surrey and this outstanding team has managed to allow my Aunt to enjoy the rest of her holiday without the extreme pain she was suffering. Many thanks from us both.

Absolutely incredible staff and service! Was in absolute agony with my tooth! Rang to go get emergency appointment, got it straight away and arrived to the staff to make me feel very comfortable, got my tooth taken out! I’m not the best with dentists but Charlie and the very smiley assistant (sorry I couldn’t remember your name) were amazing! Couldn’t have been any better! Thankyou so much!
