We booked this as a birthday treat for 4 nights. we got the superior rooms which were great- spacious, clean and modern. the hall and grounds were really lovely and the spa was good- nice sized pool and windows looking out onto the lovely gardens. the only criticism we had was just little things that downgraded the experience somewhat. the spa windows looking out onto the garden were dirty and streaked, our room balcony had a huge cobweb that remained there the whole time we were there, there was a leak from the rain that had obviously been there for some time as the balcony wood was rotting and the table outside was never cleaned. we ate in the hotel for my birthday meal- the food was great but there was no 'flourishes' that i would expect for the price we paid eg fabric napkins, a tablecloth and candle, being offered a sample of the wine and it being poured for you rather than just dumped on the table. overall, we had a fantastic time but a little bit of care here and there would have made it perfect.
One night stay while exploring cornwall. staff were friendly and helpful, room was comfy and as someone who usually stays at premiere inn, having a fridge in the room brings me joy 😅 balcony looked nice though we didn't use it as it was rainy. breakfast was good, nice continental and hot options too. (pancakes were a winner). spent some of the next day after checkout enjoying the spa (mostly the pool) which was clean and seemed well kept. sauna a barmy 85°c, and great views out from the pool despite the rain. only one thing i would say i didn't like, that's the location of the light switch in the twin room we had, was under my pillow 🤣
This is the perfect place to come atleast once or twice a year. i've taken my partner here for the last 2 years for her birthday and it never disappoints. the staff are lovely, welcoming and very helpful. everyone goes out of their way to make you experience the best possible and the spa area is to die for. nothing beats waking up in the morning to a view where the sky looks like it's on fire.
Two night break. comfortable room in old part of hotel. very efficient and pleasant staff. good food. only gripe was no response to 2 emails + 1 letter addressed to the manager re: requirement for ease of access + walk in shower for my partially disabled wife. had to make a telephone call in the end!
This hotel could be so much better! the room is pleasant, although having the bath/shower in the bedroom area is very unusual. however the biggest problem with the room is that they have gone overboard on having fixed soap dispensers - the result is that the one in the toilet drips over the towel and there is no soap available in the "bathroom area"! the restaurant service lacks attention to detail: on our first night i only realised that my dish was missing parmesan when i got the menu for deserts - this would have improved the dish by a long way. on our second evening they delivered a pork dish without the promised apple sauce - when i queried this they claimed that the apple was only in the apple mash, which had very little apple, but grudgingly brought some apple anyway. i rechecked the menu and that confirmed that the dish was supposed to be served with apple sauce. this is simply not good enough
