Food - absolutely delicious. Went for the Burnt brisket ends. These were really tasty and served with a generous amount of chips, some sweetcorn and coleslaw. Some of the best brisket I’ve ever had. Scenery - stunning views of the surrounding valley. The place feels separated from the outside world in a good way, with lovely views looking out into the woodland. Despite the tucked out of the way feel of the place it was also very easy to access with lots of parking available even at peak times as well.

The Polgooth is always a great place to be. We've had many meals there and also experienced their breakfast on 2 different days, and all was very good. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you're always made to feel welcome. Its a lovely and proper old school Inn. We love it!

I cannot fault this place on my visit. When we arrived the place was heaving which was a good sign. The lady got us to our table straight away and didn't seem at all flustered at how busy the place was. Staff were very friendly and food was absolutely amazing, not only was it great but the portions were absolutely huge. We ordered a starter which was a lot bigger than expected, we had to box some to take with us. The mains (pictured) were great, the brisket had great flavour and just fell apart. The rump steak was cooked perfectly and just melted in the mouth. If you are nearby I was highly recommend this to visit, but make sure you book as this place appears to always be full, and for good reason.

The Polgooth exceeded our expectations, the menu was wide and varied with the prices not being out of the ordinary, but the quality and quantity of the meal certainly was. I had the burnt-ends of brisket, my wife the fish pie. Both meals were beautifully cooked and presented, service was prompt and friendly. The Polgooth is certainly worthy of a diversion or a destination in its own right!!

The pub garden is quite spacious with some large round tables and some smaller ones dotted about. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was amazing and everything tasted fresh and delicious I have to say the homemade desserts were absolutely incredible, sticky toffee has never tasted so good, with a butterscotch sauce and ice cream! Washed down with a cold pint of Rattlers!
