It was a fantastic hotel really clean very very hot water peaceful, relaxing and lovely to sit we had a great breakfast
A beautiful biulding set next to holy trinity church right in the heart of the city at the rear of the flying standard pub, very peaceful and quiet area to just relax for a moment ,often see the squirrels scurrying about.excellent place for a selfie with lychgate in the background, easily accessible but a bit of a detour for wheelchair/mobility scooters
We stopped here for a wedding, we stupidly didn't see the late check-in times, and didn't have time to get across the city (to coombe abbey) to collect the keys. luckily the hotel was very accommodating and helped us out with an early check in. we had a great time here, the building is surprisingly roomy, and beautifully decorated. even though the building dates back to the 14-15 hundreds the interior is extremely modern with some period features - they have kept the old wooden beams on show, vintage windows and even kept an old cooker on show in the kitchen in 4 priory row. bedrooms and en suites are also fantastic. 10/10 couldn't recommend enough.
600 year old cottages very nicely modernized. some have very steep stairs - beware! - but we stayed in a very comfortable accessible ground floor unit
These cottages have just been fantastically restored by coventry heritage trust. we had a superb stay at 6 priory row (also known as lychgate cottages). the building dates from 1415 but the interior presentation is bang up to date. everything is really stylish and luxurious. we enjoyed the incredibly comfy bed with gorgeous duvet, in a very quiet, cosy and dark bedroom, thanks to the secondary glazing, the modern heating and the heavy curtains. one bedroom has a contemporary four poster bed and an en-suite shower room. the other is a double, with a bathroom and wc directly opposite. the central location is amazing - ideal for visiting coventry cathedral, the herbert gallery and belgrade theatre and for shops and local restaurants. there are views over the priory gardens, immediately next door, and towards the cathedral, holy trinity church and broadgate. we ate out a couple of times but also self-catered (sainsbury's is a 2 minute walk), as the property has a well-equipped kitchen and everything you need for a relaxing night in.
