Mary O'Brien - Plastic and Hand Surgery

Had needle Aponeurotmy today and apart from a sharp scratch at the start felt no pain. Miss o brien is excellent at what she does and my fingers are a lot straighter than before. I would highly recommend her.

Miss O’Brien did a needle aponeurotomy for my dupytrens. In less than 2 minutes she almost straightened my finger with very little discomfort. We had discussed whether I should wait for fasciotomy as I had on 2 previous occasions since she honestly did not guarantee the aponeurotomy would make much difference. I’m so glad that I decided to try aponeurotomy and even if the improvement had not been so dramatic it would still have been worth while since the discomfort was so minor in any case. I was very happy to be going home with a straight finger and just a sticking plaster that I removed the next day. So much less hassle than fasciotomy. Definitely recommend if you are offered it.

Miss O’Brien did a needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytrens in one of my fingers. The tendon was stubborn and she worked patiently and carefully with little discomfort resulting in my finger now having a very much greater range of movement. The staff at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre are wonderful, so friendly, efficient and engaging and in the short time I have spent with Miss O’Brien, she took time to build a rapport between us which makes such a difference as a patient receiving advice and treatment. Can highly recommend visiting Dr Mary and the Pulvertaft Hand Centre.

Having met Mary a few times and discussing my options on what we would think would be the best options for my hand surgery.. Mary made me feel special respectful and not just a number. The surgery was amazing and pain free which was a worry of mine as I don't do well with pain. But before I knew it I was back in recovery room and off home with in a few hours..Her staff were amazing nothing was to much trouble could not do enough for me. And as for Mary I don't think I've come across anybody like her.

Earlier this year I required parts of all my fingers amputating due to the complications of sepsis. Mary O'Brien has done an incredible job, leaving me with remaining fingers that look fantastic and are still highly functional, something which seemed impossible before I visited her at the Pulvertaft hand clinic. The Surgery was pain free and I felt completely relaxed throughout. The after care from Mary and the team at the clinic has been really impressive, it's had such a positive impact towards my recovery from a life changing illness.
