Blue Jay

Everywhere was booked up the Blue Jay really wasn't what we wanted. it was my Sons Birthday and it was a last min booking. But we were Absolutely blown away by the service we got Food was cracking staff were fab and they even put candles on a cake we took in with us and when they produced the cake the staff came and sang happy birthday It really was a lovely couple of hours Whatever has been done to turn the pub around carry on it was a pleasant surprise.

Great pub for family get togethers, slightly out of the way as you have to drive as it is out of town, but it is a little more quieter too. Food options are vast and the service impeccable. Will come back for the mixed grill again!

Family occasion party of 7 taken immediate on entry to our table by attentive staff. Only downside table had residue from previous occupation and we had to find staff to clean it, this was done fairly promptly. Efficient and friendly service from all staff from ordering to service of food and drink. When we left a friendly goodbye was appreciated

The rooms at the Blue Jay are clean, comfortable and decent value for money. I’d happily stay there again… The food in the restaurant is reasonably priced but I have found that quality varies - for example the amount of bbq sauce included with a burger was strangely smalj and the Hunters Chicken was a little dry… In contrast the staff have always been friendly and efficient - especially Andy and Adam who looked after us very well on a recent 2 night stay.

Great pub in an ideal location between Nottingham and Derby. Great choice of food and friendly staff. On-site accommodation, which we stayed in for two nights. Nice comfortable modern room tastefully decorated. Hotel reception is in the pub and has plenty of parking. Part of the Marstons chain.
