Park with open space. playground for young children, skate rams, bmx track and basketball nets. the "dell" with its flower beds, trees and plants it's very nice for a small walk. plenty of bench's to take a seat at there is also a small aviary. there is a small cafe on the grounds too. excellent access to the river for walks along the river don
Beautiful park very well designed, one side is street other side is a beautiful river. good for a long walk and spend time with family.
I used to visit the dell and river don as a child sunday afternoon on a summers day was extremely popular hundreds of people visited hexthorpe park and you could hire rowing boats to row up and down the river don but obviously health and safety doesn't allow that any more and even remember a running stream of water in the dell and a brass band playing in the centre bandstand so it's disappointing to see the dell not as it could and should be but we still have the aviery for visitors to view but let's face it there is much more on offer for the public present day albeit usually expensive it was cheaper entertainment in my childhood and we still loved every minute of it
Lovely park to have a walk around with your dog .and there's plenty of room for kids to run around and play i'm the park and lots of seating areas for picnic.
Absolutely adore hexthorpe park (the dell) have been going there since i was 3 years old if not right from being born with my mum. yes of course it's changed but where hasn't and tbh in the last 36 year's i haven't noticed that much of a difference. there is still the exact same slide that i used to play on as a child. all the walking routes are the same and i'm pleased to say that even the minagery has bird's 🦜🕊️ in it. been there for a walk everyday for the last few days and have found a different route to walk every day. love 💕 it...
