Lovely castle. Brought my 3 kids here aged 12/13/18 and each of them enjoyed it. They were given a quiz to complete as we went around the castle. Staff were very helpful and even gave added info after we had been around. Lovely little gift shop. The views of the surrounding areas are amazing to see. Would definitely recommend

A beautiful castle! Not a lot to see but a lovely space just to be admired. Free to walk around but need to pay or have English heritage membership to go and have a look inside. No onsite parking available, but the streets around is free.

A last-minute plan turned into a great day out. We arrived at a community event at the castle, which was set up really well, and every staff/event member was polite, engaged, and helpful. It was good to see the castle full of people, and the exhibitions were a delight to watch.

Great castle , with helpful and informative staff , the site , run by English Heritage is excellent and has information all around the site , the interactive displays are great for children, although adults use them too. It's a good place for a family and weather permitting a beautiful place for a picnic. The guide book is a good idea if you are interested in the history of the castle. The view from the top is amazing and on a clear day you can see for miles. I can recommend a visit and I will be returning.

Lovely way to pass a couple of hours with children. Brilliant views from the top of the tower, and wonderful storytelling about the castle's history. Not massive amounts to do there, but very relaxed and good for a picnic or game of hide and seek. Just a nice place for kids to run around in beautiful surroundings. Parking is on street or at the small car park at the foot of the hill.
