We made a special trip to the Black Country Living Museum whilst having a few days away in the area. It was a fabulous day out, and we all enjoyed the experience of what it was like living in the past in this area of the country. Highlights included having a school lesson, travelling on the old bus, going down the mine, going to the old cinema and having fish and chips for lunch! There are lots of little houses and shops to pop in to and nose about, in some you will come across people 'in character' and you can ask questions or just chat. In some of the shops you can buy things (mostly food / drink / toys). There are plenty of facilities if needed, and also a larger cafe area back at the main entrance if you need a drink or something before you start or before you leave. We almost missed it, but don't miss out on popping into the garage area which is located out the front of the museum (before you go through ticket area). If you visit, plan to be there a full day, which you can easily achieve in all honesty - we got there about 15 mins after opening and stayed up until about 30 mins before closing! There are some signs when you enter telling you times of particular things you may want to visit (demonstrations or talks etc.) We had a wonderful day, and don't forget to get a parking token from the machine if parked in the museum car park. I sort of felt we should have been given this as part of our entrance fee, but at least I assume the money gets invested back in the museum!
