Fantastic gym in dumfries. there are 5-star facilities in both the cardio room and the weights room however what sets this gym apart is the quality of personal training on offer from the guys here. ross is a distinguished sportsman and, as a result, a highly skilled personal trainer who can positively influence at all levels, ages and ambitions. this standard of dynamic, far-reaching service is an asset to the town's wellbeing.

Being a local from dumfries and in the fitness industry for a long time i base my review on that. the location is a little out of dumfries but not too far, if the place is good then it's worth travelling. so i thought i'd give it a chance. upon arriving to the gym there was ample parking space. entering the gym i was greeted by a member of staff who was very helpful and didn't waste any of my time with any long process of filling out health and safety waivers. it was quick and to the point. the lady behind the desk asked my background and when i said i was pt in the military she was happy for me to continue without a full induction as i was already familiar with all the equipment. the equipment is very modern and up to date with most aspects being covered. i.e crossfit, cv and traditional weights etc. the facilities are all clean and tidy even though the different suites feel personal, there is ample space to do every type of training style. the cost is £5 for using the facilities which today is reasonable, especially when there is pretty much everything you need. my only critiques are that a white board should be put up on the wall for people to use with marker pens. this allows users to write down their circuits etc instead of constantly having to look at their phone. lastly, i would have the music louder in the main weights element of the gym. if other users don't like that style of music then they always have their headphones. it was so silent that it was hard to get into a better state of mind. overall a great gym and will definitely return.

Used solway fitness a few times when visiting family (i live in glasgow). facility is excellent with helpful and friendly staff. continued to use ross as my pt as all training and nutritional plans are available online (which he personally sets me). i log my activity and he tweaks them to suit my individual needs. really great service. would definitely recommend solway fitness

Fantastic gym! i used solway fitness for a year whilst working in dumfries and could not have been happier with it. i used the weights room and training area most and the equipment is in excellent condition and well maintained (2 big racks and lots of free weights for a smaller gym is great). ross and cathy are very welcoming and helpful and ross offers great personal training sessions and advice and support whenever its needed. the gym is only a couple of minutes outside dumfries and easy to access via car or bicycle and isn't too busy even at peak times.

I have been going to ross for pt for the last 3 years. initially to learn about how to lift weights and to gain confidence in the gym. ross's knowledge is second to none and understands that everyone is different and sets a structured training programme which suits me and as a result i now enjoy going to the gym. the gym itself has all the equipment i need and it has a really welcoming and friendly bunch of people attending the gym. would highly recommend.
