A wonderful location for a kirk right next to edinburgh castle. the people are very welcoming. the sanctuary is beautiful but the plain commercial seating clashes with the rest of the ornate church. personally, i found the american preacher wearing an old jumper and jeans a little offensive. apart from clashing with the decor, the lord's day and the lord's house deserves more reverence as regards attire. the music of modern songs was all in the treble cleff. this excludes tenors and base voices unfortunately stopping most males from participating in the worship. the sermon was long and a little repetitive. expository preaching is not the same as biblical preachings as is all-too-often claimed. i really loved the genuine enthusiasm conservative theology and the evangelical outlook.
What a great sanctuary and outreach in the heart of the old town. i commend them wholeheartedly. it was sheer refreshment to visit in the midst of all the festival chaos and vulgarity.
Amazing mini-museum of scotland's christian history within an active church. the docents (volunteers?) were very friendly and knowledgeable. this isn't a place marked in any of the guidebooks but is a great place to stop. we also appreciated the biscuits and water!
Reformed, confessional church in the heart of edinburgh. part of the free church of scotland. very welcoming.
Came here for a sunday evening service. it was a nice respite in the middle of a bustling edinburgh swarmed with fringe festival goers.
