Niddrie House Standing Stone

I've given this four stars because it's now hidden by overgrown ivy and bushes such a pity part of our history isn't shown off more in full view.. below is a photo taken before it's hidden by overgrown plants

Random neolithic stone in the most unusual of settings but if you choose the right path its a beautiful place to start a walk to Craigmillar Castle. Quirky n beautiful sights along the way of a waterway overspill that gives birth to alot of nature right on the edge of town through Frances Park til you reach the sights of Craigmillar Castle. 🤘🤟

A Neolithic standing stone in its original sitting! - a incredible peice if over 5000yr old history right in the middle of the housing estate older than any other structure around.🏰 Currently it's easy to miss overgrown with ivy sitting adjacent to the old 17th century graveyard to the Wauchope family whom once owned the land. 🌿 But all being well that's soon to change as theres upcoming community action in 2023 to clear the ivy, make the stone more accessible and to tell it's incredible story. So certainly a monument to keep a eye on! 👀😊
