Another wonderful inspirational visit to the gardens. particular highlight was the herbology students raised beds. herbs all carefully labelled, mostly with their uses and absolutely fascinating stories. the shop is extremely well stocked and the plants are very reasonably priced. the terrace garden offers gluten free vegan options. i enjoyed the pea and mint summer soup. can't wait until my next visit.
A 30 minute walk from edinburgh centre you will find well kept and beautiful gardens. we could not walk around the entire grounds to all the areas due to rain but what we did see was impressive. to add to that it's free admission although you can make a donation if you feel the need.
As part of our hop on/off bright bus tour we visited the edinburgh botanical gardens on 25/08/23. a showery day, but we saw beautiful roses & found the ting in the chinese hillside gardens. needed more time but we enjoyed what we saw.
One of the best places to be immersed in nature. you can admire a variety of flowers, plants and trees of different parts of the world. the garden has plenty of work and improvements done and still they continue working which you can appreciate during your paths. new ponds, new beautiful spaces and views. you can stop for a snack or lunch in the coffee shop and restaurant, in the reception there is a variety of plants and souvenirs to buy. overall the garden is an incredible experience.
This is a brilliant place to visit! even though the glasshouses are closed at the moment there's still so much to see: the most beautiful rock garden in the world, wildflowers in the demonstration area, lovely cafe with delicious food, and plenty of places to stop and sit to contemplate. amazing views of edinburgh too. it's wheelchair friendly, with disabled parking just outside the main entrance. there's art exhibitions and i learnt loads about plants. and it's free!!!
