In november 2022 i acquired an unexplained, unbearable pain in my foot and ankle which was excruciatingly sore to the touch. after a few days unable to put any weight on it i made an appointment with my gp and was diagnosed with gout which i have never had anytime throughout my life (i am 54). i was given conventional medication which had no effect on the problem only creating a few annoying digestive side effects. after 7 long painful weeks the gout pain started to reduce and fortunately all but disappeared leaving a constant twinge in my big toe joint. at the end of february 2023 i started to feel a slight familiar pain in the same foot and within 2 days i was back to full on gout with the frustrating unbearable pain. i couldn’t bear to put up with it again so i again visited my gp. the same medication was given which i explained did nothing previously, and i was advised that i should go on a certain medication for the rest of my life. i wasn’t too keen on the idea so thought i'd try an alternative form of treatment. i had received treatment by dr chen at hui chun clinic for chronic back pain around 9 years ago and the results were fantastic and long lasting but i wasn’t sure if gout was treatable. i made an appointment with dr chen to discuss if it was and he was confident that a few sessions of acupuncture and medication could relieve my symptoms. after just 2 sessions and medication (a very potent kind of tea) over the space of 6 days i could feel the pain drastically reducing. 3 more sessions and the gout had disappeared, not just that but i haven’t had a worrying twinge since. dr chen in my opinion is a genuinely considerate, talented, competent expert in his field.

Having experienced a number of health problems throughout my life, i have a great appreciation for health practitioners. i have been very lucky to find this place, as recommended by a close friend & tai chi practitioner. i first undertook an acupuncture course to relieve stress and anxiety: the results were almost instantaneous. when i experienced a gout attack for the first time, i found that western recommendations & treatment were not working for me. another rigorous acupuncture course worked wonders once again. i cannot thank dr. chen enough for his work. everything about the clinic, from the staff to the calming environment, was conducive to healing and recovery, and i thank my lucky stars we have this service available to us in scotland.

Dr chen was completely professional - he was kind and sympathetic and knew how best to treat my osteoarthritis. i received acupuncture which certainly relieved the pain in my knees. i have nothing but praise for him and his clinic.

Unbelievable the difference the treatment here has made to my pain! i had another bout of sciatica, this time i was really struggling to cope with the pain. i was on very high levels of traditional medicine which was having no effect. came to the clinic and saw dr chen, after my second visit the difference was so noticeable that i could hardly believe it-it has not gone back to previous levels. my whole family come here and have done for many years-we have never been dissatisfied. my 87yr old mother (treated for arthritis pain) is dr chens biggest fan.
