Beautiful gallery and Mackintosh House is worth a visit on its own. Friendly and knowledgeable staff members, good facilities.

The Hunterian Art Gallery has reassembled a fascinating display of early 20th century architecture and interior design salvaged from the onetime home of Rene Mackintosh. The impressive but impractical adult only living spaces designed by Rene Mackintosh in collaboration with his wife Margaret are unique and deserving of a visit.

The Hunterian Gallery is right next to the Macintosh Museum. The Macintosh museum is not free but the Gallery is. The Gallery has a variety of exhibits from classic art to modern paintings and sculptures and performances. At the time they also had a Mary Queen of Scots themed exhibition. The Macintosh Museum is a recreation of the original house the artist lived in. It is an excellent way to get an impression of the unique style of the artist. A must see for all design interested.

Always a good time here! In particular the Mackintosh house is stunning. £10 or free with the National Art Pass. Main gallery is free.
