Chantry Wood

Absolutely charming woodland, perfect for hiking. Lots of varied terrain. And Guildford (the nearest town) is only 30 mins from london on the train!

Surprisingly nice. Bit of heather, loads of chestnuts and oaks. Pasture nearby. You can watch the species composition change as you move through the woods. Large enough and maintained enough that it's not eroded to pieces. A mycophile's dream -- dozens of mushroom species -- and the place is generally FERNtastic. ;)

Stunning woodland, especially in the bluebell season. Great for a dog walk, but be mindful of deer, squirrels and rabbits. Lovely place to run, there are many paths and spits to explore. The main path with vehicle access is part of the North Downs Way.
