I am a regular visitor to this course. the course has now been reduced to 14 holes since reopening after lockdown with no change to the green fees, which reduces value and appeal. greens are variable in quality and bunkers lack sand. layout is reasonably interesting and not too challenging. not a great option in winter as it is prone to waterlogging.
Staff are friendly and laid back. on the downside, the course is soft and boggy and this was 2 weeks after the last rain. 18 holes reduced to 14 and greens are slow and spongy. i mean slow, don't be afraid to give it a whack. this place is owned by the same people who own the village golf course further up the road. don't bother with this as that course is much better. i'd suggest getting rid of this one and focusing on making one great.
Great golf course for beginners - intermediate. 14-18 holes. challenging enough for a good game without being too tiring. great local pub round the corner too to finish off the round.
Perfect for a relaxing afternoon round surrounded by the beautiful yorkshire countryside. usually nice and quiet after 3pm if you don't want the pressure of groups behind you.
Learned to play golf here back in the day, still call back a couple of times a year to practice before i play the bigger courses. its harder than you think due to narrow fairways, i always play the first 4 holes again at the end to get 18 holes in. staff very friendly.
