The best gym ever! Classes at Primal gym are great and there are fantastic coaches. You are followed with monthly reviews to keep track of your progress and define objectives. And you can always count on some help even if you are training “solo”. After 5 years of being a member, it feels more like family than a normal gym. During the lockdown the gym has offered online classes via Zoom everyday of the week and this has kept me sane whilst it guided me in some home workout to keep training even if the gym was closed. Great people, always available and always listening to members feedback.

As one of my first personal training experiences the coaches at primal have been nothing but amazing, The training programme and diet supplied by Hector was perfectly suited to me and I have become healthier and fitter than I have ever been. Keep being amazing team!

Perfect introduction to exercising with weights. The team are all very welcoming and friendly. Steve, my coach was always available to answer any questions I would have about the training plan, by dropping him a text message. The small group personal training sessions are perfect for keeping you motivated and the conditioning section at the end is really fun - they make it unique each time to keep it interesting. Each coach brings their individuality and expertise to work so there’s always someone who can help you with whatever questions you may have. I was previously apprehensive about using any barbells in the gym with weight plates, however you quickly become comfortable using the equipment after a few sessions. If you’re thinking of doing the SGPT trial with primal, I would recommend it 100% - you won’t regret it :)

But with Primal Gym minutes away from home I decided to give it a go. With the help of the professional staff, I’ve managed to keep myself motivated and focused on achieving my goals. But more than getting fitter, I discovered an environment with friendly people and that makes my workouts much better.

Joining Primal is the best thing I ever did. To say it changed my life is no exaggeration. Since I joined, I've done things I'd never dreamed of. I've been part of the winning dragon boat racing team at the Leeds Waterfront Festival, I've pushed 360kg on a prowler, and I even pulled an 8½ tonne truck by myself! I'd never been a member of a gym for longer than 6 months before I found Primal. I hated running, I didn't know what to do with a weight rack, and quite frankly I felt intimidated and out of my depth. The coaches at Primal are absolute superstars, they worked with me to build my confidence, encouraged me to try new things, and were always there celebrating alongside my achievements or to give me a boost when I needed it. The classes are great fun, small sizes so you get to know the people you're training with, collaborative and always with games and challenges to keep it interesting. I've made friends for life in the classes, which is a fab boost if you're new to the area. I also joined the SGPT sessions, which I would highly recommend to anyone. You get a personalised workout programme catered to your own strengths and weaknesses (I have hypermobility and all my exercises took this into account, and actually caused my day-to day issues to all but disappear). You also get nutritional advice, as well as help with lifestyle, relaxation and sleep, so it's so much more than your standard workout plan. I always thought that if I'd seen one gym, I'd seen them all. Rows of treadmills and cross trainers, mirrors on every conceivable surface, and a tiny weights area where if I was lucky I might be able to sneak in before being stared away by the resident gym bros, back to the safety of the "ladies" weights. Primal is the complete opposite of this. There's not a single treadmill in the building, instead there are more kettlebells and weights than I'd ever seen in one place before, a full boxing ring and bag area, TRX machines spanning the length of the room and not to mention the numerous lifting platforms and benches. If you want a cheap bog-standard cardio mill, Primal is probably not the right fit. If you're looking for some help getting started, some encouragement in your journey, in working out for the fun of it, or to push yourself to see what you can do, this is the place for you.
