I totally love this place! this is my first ever museum visit in england and the abbey house museum made it really special. i like the story telling that begins at the ground floor(with victorian times) and then transforms as you go up to the second floor. you see the transition in the way of life of children, families and even music has shaped the abbey house and it's environs. there are also really cool stuff to learn. 😊
Small, but really well arranged and really worth a visit it has a fantastic victorian street with shops an activities area upstairs and a fantastic atmosphere
Surprised of the size and information available, the preservation is incredible, even the old street smells you can sense as you pass at certain street, the kids where educated. i definitely recommend and would go back.
Lovely nostalgic trip back to a museum i last visited as a child. i took my kids during the easter holiday and we all loved exploring the victorian streets, shops and alleys. the childhood toys on display in the upstairs galleries brought back plenty of memories as well. great place to visit and very reasonable entry fees too.
You could spend a few hours in this family friendly museum easily. impressive victorian leeds street - it felt you were on a film set. there are also childhood galleries to see toys from the past and large collection of reconditioned original penny slot machines, some of which are still in excellent working order. to bring this all to life they really need to train the staff to interact more - share knowledge. car park across the road and worth checking ticket options as you can use your art pass plus discount for leeds residents. there was a cafe with outside seating area. worth a visit if visiting leeds.
